INDEPENDENT WEDDING AND FUNERAL CELEBRANT

Providing bespoke, personal ceremonies, just how you want them.

Fife Celebrant - Celebrating Life's Events

Non-Religious Ceremonies, or Semi-Religious Once upon a time, almost all weddings and funerals took place in a church; with the only music you would hear being, a hymn or a prayer being sung. Religious ceremonies tend to be impersonal, with little room to make them your own. However, this does not reflect today’s society, which is much less religious, and it’s people, are more inclined to get married on a beach or on a Scottish hillside, with an Independent Celebrant officiating at the ceremony, to the sounds of Adele, Beyonce or even AC/DC. Weddings Over half the weddings in Scotland are Civil Ceremonies officiated over by a Celebrant, with little or no religious content. People want this alternative to a restrictive church or humanist weddings, and this is the same for funerals too. Many people just want to do it their own way, without being hypocritical, reflecting their own beliefs, values, cultures, heritage and indeed their personalities. There is no limit to how you can have your ceremony, other than your own imagination. Renewal of Vows This is where couples can re-commit themselves to one another, for whatever reason, and perhaps have the celebration or the wedding that they never had many years ago – only this time they can have their family and friends there too. You can rewrite your vows and we can Baby Naming / Renaming Ceremonies What do you do if your not religious but want to welcome a new baby, or a newly adopted child into your family. The answer is not a lot; but my Baby Naming Ceremonies make a celebration for all the family, and your friends, to attend, giving them an opportunity, to welcome your new family member. They may be a new grandchild, a new cousin, a new brother or sister, and your celebration allows everyone to be there for them, surrounding them with love and support. You and your family and friends can show their commitment to the child and to your family. You may make promises; I will always make time for you; I will read you a story every bedtime; I will teach you how to ride your bike, whatever it is you think is important can be included. This ceremony is also used when two families join together to become one, celebrating both individually and then going together as one. Adults may also want a renaming ceremony, following a marriage or other occasion. Location You can have your ceremony anywhere you like, subject to you being allowed to hold it there. This could be by a Loch, a River, a Tree or just somewhere that has meaning for you. Funerals I'd like to help you celebrate the life of your loved one and to help you share their story, in a kind, caring and sensitive way, with your family and friends. I will meet with you and we will take the time to capture what it is you would like to say and do at the ceremony. We can reflect your tor their beliefs, you can have music, a hymn, a special prayer or even a poem or reading that has meaning to you. It can be a joyful event, with some humour or it can be more traditional. Whatever you decide, it will be unique and memorable. Members of the family can say a few words, read a poem or a reading, whatever you think is appropriate. You can ask for me directly through your funeral director, or you can contact me directly and we can arrange a meeting to discuss your requirements. Other Important Life Events Whatever your event, I will work with you and provide a special, memorable ceremony. It will be fun, inspiring and customised to your particular needs. Your ceremony will be personal to you, and will reflect all aspects of your life, your beliefs, values, personality, hobbies, musical tastes and culture. My aim is to give you the ceremony your special occasion deserves and to provide you and your guests with lasting memories, that will be special and worth remembering.
